Online near-infrared moisture meters applied in the ceramics industry
Alumina powder has high hardness and strength, which can significantly improve the wear resistance, compressive strength, and refractory properties of ceramics, as well as enhance the ceramic’s resistance to chemical substances such as acids and alkalis, making it an important raw material in ceramic production. However, the moisture content of alumina powder directly affects powder flowability, mold filling uniformity, and body strength. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly control the moisture content of alumina powder in ceramic production.
Our company has developed the online moisture analyzer XKCON-NIR-MA-FV based on near-infrared (NIR) detection technology, which can be integrated into ceramic production lines: by installing it above the powder conveyor belt or chute at the exit of the spray drying tower, it can quickly and continuously monitor the moisture value of running alumina powder, providing real-time and accurate data support for ceramic production.
The online moisture analyzer XKCON-NIR-MA-FV consists of two components: a near-infrared detection probe and an on-site controller.
1. Working Principle
Water molecules in alumina powder exhibit strong absorption characteristics for certain wavelengths of near-infrared light—based on this principle, the FV series moisture analyzer irradiates the conveying alumina powder with near-infrared light. The water in the alumina powder absorbs part of the near-infrared light; therefore, by measuring the reduction in reflected light, the moisture content of the alumina powder can be determined.
2. Technical Advantages
This moisture meter uses a non-contact detection method, providing extremely fast measurement speed, delivering results within just a few seconds, with a measurement accuracy of up to ±0.2%. It offers advantages such as non-destructive testing, rapid and precise measurement, and strong real-time data capabilities. It can replace traditional manual sampling detection methods, enabling online monitoring of moisture content in alumina powder during the ceramic production process, significantly improving detection efficiency.
3. Main Functions
The FV series moisture meter's NIR detection technology is not affected by material variations (such as particle size, material height, and color), ensuring accurate and reliable data. It features a drift-free optical design, requiring a one-time calibration with no maintenance, providing continuous and dependable data. By utilizing network communication technology, it enables online monitoring, intelligent control, and remote management of alumina powder moisture content.
4. Networked Supervision
Ceramic manufacturing enterprises can access the XKCON Xiangkong online near-infrared moisture monitoring system through computer web pages, mobile apps, and other login methods to remotely view real-time moisture values of alumina powder. The system employs big data analysis technology, displaying moisture changes in curve form, and, in case of abnormal moisture values, alerts management personnel promptly via phone, WeChat, and other methods. At the same time, it can remotely and intelligently link relevant equipment for emergency response.
