Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) is a non-destructive analytical method that utilizes the absorption attenuation characteristics of near-infrared spectra to analyze the composition, components, structure, and content of substances.
II. Necessity of Tobacco Moisture Detection
During the processing and production stages, the moisture content of tobacco affects its physical properties such as elasticity, toughness, filling ability, and combustibility, as well as its appearance and intrinsic quality, including color, gloss, aroma, and taste. Therefore, strict detection and control of leaf moisture are required at every production step.
As a naturally grown plant, tobacco contains a large number of C-H, O-H, and N-H bonds that are relatively sensitive to NIR. Using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) to detect the moisture content of tobacco does not require sample extraction and can be directly installed on the tobacco processing production line for online detection.
