The purpose of the coal yard bucket wheel positioning system is to locate the position of the bucket wheel on the track, and to locate the position of the bucket wheel of the bucket wheel in the coal pickup area, so as to obtain the coal pickup position information of each area in real time, and to calculate the coal delivery volume of each area to the raw coal bin and the coal storage volume of different coal types. Most of the current bucket wheel position detection uses the detection technology of human eye positioning, laser displacement sensor, travel limit switch, RFID method, and the addition of a scale marker to precisely determine the position system.
All of the above location detection methods have certain defects, specifically:
①Human eye positioning is subject to eye health and mental state, environmental influence is relatively large, and the operating time is long;
②The laser displacement sensor will lose its function in unclean environment, the track settlement causes the vehicle to travel jitter will make the reflector target position inaccurate, also will lead to position detection inaccuracy;
③Travel limit switches have blind spots for continuous position detection due to point positioning;
④RFID method is a wireless point positioning, there is the phenomenon of missed reading, the delay is large;
⑤Adding the scale bar method is costly, complicated to install, and easy to wear in the harsh field environment.
Closed coal yard internal bucket wheel positioning solution
The bucket wheel cannot use satellite positioning technology inside the closed coal yard, and the most accurate and mature indoor-based positioning technology is UWB positioning technology.
UWB wireless positioning principle: the location of the wireless base station is known, the tag sends out a wireless pulse signal, and the distance from the tag to each base station is obtained according to the time the tag arrives at each base station multiplied by the speed of light.

The figure below shows the layout of the precise positioning of bucket wheel machines in closed coal yards. By installing multiple indoor positioning base stations on the top of each closed coal yard and on the horse path, and installing positioning terminals on bucket wheel machines, the precise positioning of bucket wheel machines is realized. Through the precise positioning information of bucket wheel positioning system, it realizes the standardized management of bucket wheel taking coal according to the plan, and realizes the automatic sound and light alarm of the system to prompt the bucket wheel operator when the coal taking area does not match with the planned coal taking area location. Real-time monitoring of bucket turbine position information reduces the risk of bucket turbine collision.
